    Trying to explain why Paterno is a huge ass hat and rape enabler to a football fan.

    “But he didn’t actually RAPE anyone! He just knew about it! He was still a great football coach.”

    I just dealt with this same thing.

    Real conversation I had today:

    Other person: “I think it’s a crime what they did, forcing Paterno out like that.”
    Me: “Ummm, I think the actual crime was that he covered up a child rapist.”

    I mean yeah, it’s sad whenever anyone dies, but Joe Paterno was not a saint. As a matter of fact, the hero-worship that occurred at Penn State helped exacerbate the whole Sandusky situation. People were afraid to tarnish the legacy of the program, and kids got hurt as a result.
